Breaking the Silence

City Hall, Los Angeles, close to the Hall of Records.

I’m sorry for the lack of communication over the past few weeks. As some of you know, the three of us have been fully dedicated to this project, which led us to take a trip to Los Angeles earlier this month. We’ve just returned and are excited to share our findings with you.
During that time, we scheduled an appointment at the Hall of Records and gained access to the trial records held in the basement.  There are nine volumes, but not all court records are available. In fact, they had forgotten to remove the ones no one is allowed to see, so we had to wait whilst they quickly went through and removed them.  We did ask why and were told they contained “sensitive information”, likely to be personal details of witnesses, images, etc. The files are dated from 1986, covering the preliminary hearings through to the verdict. Anything previous will be in the police archives, one imagines.

We spent one afternoon and one whole day in that basement. Were we well received? No, not exactly. We were viewed with much suspicion and strange glances, but we didn’t let that put us off.

We managed to go through most of the nine volumes; however, we ran out of time for all, and we have requested copies for those.
We were given permission to photograph what we wanted, and they also made some hard copies for us, so over the next few days and weeks, we will be putting them all together to share with you what we found.  In honesty, it just underlined that which we already knew, but it has provided us with yet more insight into the failings surrounding the trial and some particularly shady behaviour by Halpin and one letter written by Richard which has not been seen before.

Court records, volume one.

We appreciate your patience as we sort everything out into understandable chunks. We were snapping away with our phones and now must organise a jumble of court documents.
We also want to thank those we met with for coffee during our time in LA. Thanks again for welcoming us and for the conversation and support.  We were so happy to meet you.

Outside the Hall of Records, Los Angeles.

Our book is available here..

    1. Hi, and thank you. We tried to keep up with you all, but it was near impossible. There is no need to feel nervous, nothing we saw changed our opinion, in fact, it underlined the farce it was.

    2. I was a bit nervous/reluctant to look at the court papers. I was scared that I’d find something that contradicted what was written in the book, rendering it rubbish/inaccurate. I was also worried I would need to add a shitload to it. But as Jay said, it mostly confirmed things we knew. We did find a few interesting things though. It was quite exciting. The whole trip was amazing fun.

      1. Nothing we said was contradicted, nothing. It really just underlined everything we already said, plus we DID find some very interesting snippets of info that were left out of the trial.

      4. Ahhh fair. This case compared to all criminal cases gets me the most emotional like it really hits me deep. I know I get so emotional about this but I can’t help it what happened to Richard just angers me.

      5. It was surreal, I won’t lie. There was a point when we discovered the letter and it was “WAIT! Go back, that’s Richard’s writing…” We weren’t expecting that letter. The files start from 86, so from the preliminary hearings. Anything before will be in the police archives, I imagine.

      6. Were you guys able to have a copy of that letter?

      7. Yes, don’t worry. We will be sharing that with you all very soon. We couldn’t get a physical copy, but we were able to photograph it and the envelope. It’s addressed to Judge Dion Morrow. We were able to handle the original letter.

      9. We’re sneaky fuckers, that’s for sure! lol
To begin with we hid that we were taking pics, but in the end, we were told to take to pics of what we wanted because we asked for so many pages to be copied. I expect they didn’t want the hassle of that.

    1. We can only tell you what we saw/read. There were some very interesting things that did not come up at the trial. Bear with us while we sort it all out.

My comment got lost. I wrote that I am glad to hear from you. The world is a better place with people like you 3. It is so enlighten to read all this. And these news are another point to clear the case post hum. I am thankful for your dedication because this will teach people to look more into facts. My thinking is it would be good to examine which of the crimes were done by the “Original Nightstalker”. He was caught much to late. Some of the crimes I think was him. But there is no interest on the part of the judicial authorities. Because of that is your work so important.

    1. Hi, thanks for commenting, and I am glad you are enjoying what we do, and yes, we hope sensible people will look more closely at the facts instead of the nonsense constantly told as gospel. We have wondered about DeAngelo’s crimes, and whether he may have done any Richard was convicted for. It is always said that he was inactive and out of the area during the Night Stalker spree, but we have found through our investigations that it isn’t true. His wife rented a house in Long Beach (I think..) in 85, so he WAS in the area, whatever they say. He had a child born in LA..

The attack on Whitney Bennett bears a strong resemblance to the killing of Janelle Cruz in May 1986. Janelle was a victim of DeAngelo, but HAD she been murdered in May 85, they would have pinned that one of Richard, without a doubt.

  6. I feel and believe that they only said Deangelo took a “break” just to make Richard seem more guilty and pin it on him. Cuz how come both victims as you mentioned have the same MO happen to them?

  7. I wondering why they were so weary of you guys? I understand them taking some of the files if they contained sensitive information. But treating you guys with suspicion as if you guys were committing a crime or something is weird to say the least. It’s just documents!

    1. They must have thought we were weird groupies, that’s all I can think.

      1. Lol then they might have had Richard’s weird groupies come through several times.

      2. I honestly think they were shocked, I don’t think it happens regularly, if at all. Otherwise, these documents would be “out there” by now, and they are not. They were peering at us from behind their screens. LOL

      3. that’s the think, they assume everyone is his groupie or fangirl! When I was defending Richard on YouTube I was ofc getting bullied and harassed badly, someone came to my defence and called me a fan girl thnx for defending me but I ain’t a fan girl 😂, no matter what you do or say we are always gonna be associated with them witch is fucked up but as Jay told me “it is what it is.”

  8. Oh Wow ..I ve just read about your surreal activities in L.A .LOL. Great that everything worked out fine ! And you found that original letter from Richard ! Thats ..incredible , really thats so great . Must have been so exciting ! I try to imagine all that … !

    1. Yes, it was quite a moment finding that letter. I am working on a post and will be sharing that very soon. I need to give some context and link it in with what was happening. We believe this letter has never been seen before, tucked away as it was among the first court file. Sadly it was the only one, but we also saw the waiver papers he signed; sometimes he signed them “Ricardo” and at other times “Richard”.
